WINE BRANDING PROJECT
I worked on a project to rebrand and redesign a mock wine company. I was to create a logo and some sample labels for various products (wine bottle, wine box, promotional tag, and a cloth tote bag), as well as stationary (letterhead, business card, and envelope). I also created a graphic standards manual to define the representation of the branding.
The brand name was “Eccentrico”. Because of its similarity with the word “eccentric”, I designed the logo based on circular motion, but being a little off center. The target audience was intended for a “hip” crowd, so it had to look more fun and clever than traditional design for wine companies. After many other ideas I settled on a lowercase “e” design, tilted askew, with the crossbar represented as a wine bottle pointed downward, as if the symbol was drinking from the bottle. The logo looks very strong in black, and very cool in a tie-dye color motif.
This project taught me about the process and importance of branding. A consistent look and rhythm applied to materials, products, and artifacts throughout maintains individual brand identification and professionalism.
